Black Township Fire and Rescues new fire apparatus is at Station 1. The truck will be a couple months before it is put into service. Special thanks to the guys at Ferrara Fire for building an amazing truck.
Text Box: 	Black Township Fire and Rescue 
	was dispatched to an explosion at 
	the SABIC Innovative Plastics 
	facility on Tuesday. The companys 	fire brigade was already on scene 	battling the tank fire which BLEVE’d. 
	A cause for	 the explosion is 
	unknown at this time, and there were no injuries within the blast zone. The fire was quickly extinguished by the companys fire brigade. Reports of the explosion could be heard all the way up to 20 miles away from the plant. Numerous groups from within the counties of Posey and Vanderburgh volunteered to assist with this fire, but were not needed.	Photo courtesy of Amy Moore and the Mt. Vernon Democrat

	was dispatched to a house fire in 		the early morning hours on Highway 	69 south of Goad Cemetery Road. 	Firefighters from Black Township 
	and New Harmony responded to 	battle the blaze. Wadesville Fire 
	also responded to assist with 
	manpower. After a lengthy attack 
	the fire was extinguished. The 
cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical short. All occupants made it out of the structure and their possessions were saved. 
Text Box: Black Township Fire and Rescue participated in a mock terrorist drill on the Ohio River. The U.S. Coast Guard, Indiana State Police, Posey County Conservation Officers, and Mt. Vernon Barge Service were also present. The drill was set up by the barge service as an annual event, but has broadened to a multi-agency drill to enhance communication between different agencies.

Text Box: Black Township Fire and Rescue was called out to a fire at a home on Raben Rd. Units on scene indicated heavy smoke from the structure and when 12 Ladder 6, 12 Tanker 30, and 12 Rescue 1 arrived and made an interior attack. The firefighters found the source of the fire in
the kitchen. The oven had caught
fire and was contained to the stove.
It was quickly extinguished and the
house was ventilated to remove
the smoke. Point Township Fire
was called to assist with the fire
10 Engine 3 responded.
Text Box: Black Township Fire was called to assist Marrs Township Fire for a working structure fire. 12 Tanker 30, 12 Engine 7, 12 Tanker 20, and 12 Rescue 2 responded with water and manpower. Perry Township Fire
and Wadesville Fire were also sent with manpower and water. The house was considered a total loss,
and an Investigation is underway to
Determine the cause of the fire
because the house was vacant.

Text Box: Black Township Fire and Rescue was called out to a semi truck fire at Warehouse Services Inc. The semi truck was parked next to a stack of pallets which also caught fire. Point Township as well as SABIC Innovative Plastics Fire Brigade were called to assist with manpower. No injuries were reported but the vehicle was considered a total loss.

Black Township Fire and Rescue is located just outside the city limits of Mount Vernon, Indiana and we are 13 miles west of Evansville, Indiana in Posey County. First organized in 1952 they were the first county fire department for the southern half of Posey County. Today, Black Township Fire and Rescue is a township fire department which covers all of Black and the southern half of Lynn Township (87 square miles). Black Township Fire and Rescue protects a mix of residential, commercial, rural, and industrial firefighting (with 18 major industries in just Black Township alone). They are also involved with water rescue with two major rivers bordering Posey County (the Ohio and Wabash rivers).
